At a time when cultural decentralisation has enormous significance, and based on its expertise, its experience and its international networks, Culturesfrance intends to strengthen its contractual policy very significantly by adding to the twenty partnerships already signed with towns, urban communities, departments, regions and Directions Régionales des Affaires Culturelles (regional cultural affairs departments), a dozen new co-operation agreements.
However, transcending the limits of our national territory, its next pressing ambition is also to give this system, based on the pooling of financial resources, a European dimension (Geneva, Luxembourg, Brussels, Strasbourg…).
The formats and operating methods of the system change depending on the territories and the geographical stakes, to ensure a stronger dialogue between our national culture and other cultures.
The contractual system will continue to explore every discipline and all the major programmes of Culturesfrance, widening its scope of activities to include Publications and the Written Word, and will be involved in the various Seasons and festivals already scheduled. In 2007, therefore, it will be supporting wide-ranging projects like "Paris contemporary design" in Berlin, "Paintings in Armenia" at the Petit Palais, the Image Biennial at Luang Prabang, the "Folle journée" (Crazy Day) in Japan, the circulation of Design Made in Africa in the Maghreb, the Great Interpreters in Latvia and White Nights in Turkey…
