Exhibitions

The Exhibitions Division

The Exhibitions Division of the Department of Visual Arts and Architecture supports monographic or thematic exhibitions of living artists and supports the international circulation of contemporary art collections from private and public collections (Fonds national d’art contemporain/FNAC, Fonds régionaux d’art contemporain/FRAC, museums). It also exports the savoir-faire of French museums with regard to museography and scenography.

Major international events

CULTURESFRANCE’s goal is to encourage the presence of French artists at major international events. Several major biennials or triennials have caught the attention of CULTURESFRANCE and DAP such as Manifesta, Documenta, the Istanbul Biennial, the Busan Biennial, the Vilnius, the Tsumari Triennial in Japan, etc.
French artists selected by international curators may receive financial assistance to partially cover expenses incurred from travel, accommodations, shipping of works; support to help cover publishing costs is also available.
Moreover, CULTURESFRANCE participates in the organization of two major international events: for the Biennials in Venice (plastic arts and architecture) and in São Paulo (architecture), Culturesfrance and a "panel of experts" composed of professionals from the art world, working together with the Ministry of Culture and Communication, are responsible for selecting the artistes or architects who will represent France at these biennials.
